Our fabrication process starts with the use of precision cut commercial quality sheet and coiled steel (CRS). Our fabrication department is equipped with high speed punch presses, high speed turret punch presses, and CNC forming stations. The specifics of which follows:
Punching
Our press room is divided into three distance sections, all with the focus on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), by virtue of their redundancies. Our prototyping/small production area consists of three separate 22 station Wiedemann Turret Punch Presses with Fanuc CNC controls. By repeating the same machine in triplicate, all of the tooling and programming is interchangeable, thus eliminating machine down time.
The second section of our press room consists of five separate 100 ton Rouselle Straight Sided Double crank presses with 6” of stroke and 30” x 100” beds. Again, from a TPM perspective, having five presses of the same type and styles allows us to have spare parts being interchangeable, and hard tools fitting into multiple machine, which, once again eliminates machine down time
The third section of the press room consists of numerous Open Back Inclinable (OBI) presses, where sub-assembly parts are fabricated.
Forming
While most of our various covers are formed in our press room, most of our enclosure bodies are formed in our brake department. In this department you will find up to 10 Chicago and Version press brakes with CNC back gauges, 90 tons of capacity, and 8’ of bed area.
Welding
Our welding centers are all tied to our forming operations by use of conveyor lines, thus elimination the need for unnecessary material handling. Our welding equipment includes 6 American 20 KVA rocker arm welders, and 3 American 30 KVA air press welders. Also within our welding capacities is MIG and TIG welding.
Hardware Insertion
After welding, some jobs need special hardware inserted into them. Here at Lee Manufacturing we have four 6 ton pemserter machines, all manufactured by PennEngineering. These pem-serters allow us to pem any type of fastener into any type of steel a customer needs
Machine Shop
Within our machine shop we design and prototype all of our tooling needs including tooling improvements; as well as conduct on-going maintenance and preventive maintenance of existing tooling with the goal of Total Productive Maintenance.
