To provide a durable and aesthetic finish, powder coating is the preferred method of painting here at Lee Manufacturing. The powder used in our finishing process is a combination of resin and finely ground particles of pigment.
This mixture is first electrostatically sprayed onto the substrate to be coated. The powder particles are charged and able to adhere to the grounded metal surface of each enclosure.
Once the product has left the paint booth, it is sent through the curing oven so the powder can be heated and fused into a smooth coating. Powder coating is much more durable than traditional wet paint.
This type of finish is more resistant to scratches and chips, because of the curing process. In some cases, it’s possible to remove wet paint from metal with a pressure washer. This would never happen with a high-quality powder coating.
